From recording in nature to the code
Building Binaurly meant taking on the whole process from the start: from travelling and recording in different parts of the world to designing the screens and programming the app. The sounds were captured with special microphones in remote places, so that they carry the real feeling of each place without artificial processing.

The sounds are sorted by categories, moods and tags, making it quick to find the right soundscape for every moment.

It combines practical features with a rich collection of visual themes, detailed information on every recording, authentic photographs and a clean design.

The app keeps playing when you lock your device or use other apps at the same time, running as an independent background job on your phone.

Multilingual interface and sound profiles.
The app fully supports languages such as Greek, English, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. It also includes special sound profiles to adjust playback to your headphones.

The sounds are grouped by your purpose, such as relaxation, sleep or focus, and also by natural elements such as caves, forests, lakes and oceans.

From each recording’s menu you have direct access to all the main actions: play, add to the queue, to your favourites or to one of your own playlists.

Behind the app runs a Django API that securely manages user accounts and subscription rights. The soundscapes are streamed through time-limited links to protect the material, while the free previews remain available without signing up. To keep navigation fast and smooth, the app stores the catalogue locally on the device.
